Day 57 of #100day project – 90th Birthday Card

Hello Everyone – have you signed up for your chance to win a $500 shopping spree from Joanne Fabric & Craft? If not, check out yesterday’s post for all the details. If you use my link you get a 2 minute advance notice, then can in turn share to get additional advance notice time. Don’t waste any time so you don’t miss out. Good luck to you all.

For today’s project, I was contacted by a favorite customer with a request for an extra special birthday card for a special friend turning 90. Well that is certainly a grand number and requires a stand out card. The birthday girls favorite colors are pink, purple and blue and she likes flowers. If you know me, you know purple is my favorite color so I tend to make a lot of purple cards and things so I decided to go with pink (I’m sorry my pictures look peachy to me but the card base is a soft dusty pink).

I chose one of my Tattered Lace die sets that I got a while ago from Createandcraft.com for the lacy look. I cut a pink base at 12″ x 8 3/8″ and scored on the long side at 3″ and 6″ for a gatefold card. I cut my mat layers from an old DCWV pad called Midnight Berry. I chose a deep pinky purple and gold sheet that really gives an elegant feel to the card. The lacy pieces were cut from white card stock.

I cut the circle mat from the same patterned card stock and attached it to left side gate. I embellished with some fern pieces from a K & Company pack I had, a lovely pink flower and a blue butterfly from my stash.

For the inside I lined it in white, then used dies from my stash to cut the sentiment. I have no idea where I got the number dies from and the Happy Birthday was probably from Spellbinders. I cut everything twice out of pink and once out of the patterned gold paper. I stacked them all together so they have a slight pink shadow and it gives a bit of dimension by layering. I cut some extra “birthday”s and cut out the “th” for the 90th. I also used one of the circle dies from the set I used on the front and cut it equally into 4 pieces to accent the corners of the interior.

I used my envelope score board to make a matching pink envelope. Since I knew the card was going to be hand delivered I could add dimension so I used 1 large and 2 small matching pink plowers. Then I used both decorative circle dies from the same set as the card front and cut them out of the same gold patterned paper and added them to the corner of the envelope to mimic the card interior corners.

I am so pleased with this card – I just love it! I almost didn’t want to sell it. I hope my customer and the recipient both like it as much as I do.

Thank you for stopping by and spending a few moments with me today. Don’t forget to sign up for the $500 Joann contest if you haven’t already done so – there is still time – here is the link. Day 21 of #100dayproject

There is a lovely little magnolia tree in the back yard of the home where I am currently dog sitting.  And it is just starting to bloom!

This inspired the card I made today.  I used Stampin Up’s “Good Morning Magnolia” stamp set. I stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Then I colored my images with watercolor pencils.  The final touch was some glitter glue in the center of the big blossom. I would have preferred some yellow flocking but I don’t have any so glitter glue it was!

I stamped my images on crumb cake paper and I love how the white flower pops on it. So much better than on white. I added an old olive layer for a very thin border. I added these layers to a standard 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ whisper white card base with pop dots for some dimension. And finally, as always, I stamped the card inside and the envelope with the small magnolia blossom to tie it all together.

I hope you like my card today and that I inspired you to create a card of your own.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the products or procedures used today.  If you have time, it would help if you could give me a like, comment or share.  Thank you for spending some of your day with me and I hope to see you back again soon.

Til next time, happy crafting …….

Day 20 of #100dayproject

Today I worked a bit on my secret project.  I also went shopping for a frame for it since I wasn’t thrilled with the plain white frame I had.  I’m really pleased with what I found at HomeGoods – at a fabulous price too!

For posting today, I made a sweet card for a “thinking of you” need or perhaps a “cheer” card for someone near and dear to you.

I used a sweet little bird stamp and framelit.  He sits on a die cut branch with some punched tiny flowers added.  I shaped the flowers with a ball tool to give them some dimension and I added a small pearl to the center.  A fancy die cut label holds the greeting “Hello beautiful”.  I carried the branch and flowers to the inside with the sentiment “you’ve been on my mind”.  Finally I stamped the bird on the envelope to give a hint about the card hidden inside.

Thank you for sharing part of your day with me today and I hope I inspired you to create your own card.  If you were inspired to make your own card, I would love to see what you create.  If you have a moment, I would appreciate a like, comment or share.  Please also let me know if you have any questions about supplies or procedures used today.  And as always, I can refer a Stampin Up demonstrator if needed.

Til next time, happy crafting ….

Day 19 of #100dayproject

I spent most of the day working on a project that is not complete yet so I decided to do a quick and easy card so I could have something to post for you today.

I cut a panel of Night of Navy card stock and did some simple stamping on it with Night of Navy ink.  I twisted and turned the stamp for each print so I filled the panel with some hibiscus flowers to give the panel an all over design much like wallpaper.  Then I die cut a strip for the top and the lovely script Happy Birthday out of diamond glitter paper and just glued them on my panel.  I added pearls to the center of the flowers and attached the panel to a standard A2 card base in whisper white with dimensionals.  I also did a bit of the stamping on the card interior as well as the envelope.  This is a very simple card that anyone can do with a variety of die cuts and stamps.

And here is a sneak peak at my bigger project that took up most of my day.  I actually started this when I was cat sitting for my friend Fern so actually, I have spent two days working on it so far.  Does that mean I get to give myself credit for 2 days of projects for the #100dayproject?  It is going to be a framed 12 x 12 piece for a certain upcoming holiday ……. can you guess what?  I spent the day coloring and fussy cutting a lot of little bits and pieces – these are just a few.  I am going to layer the rose pieces for a dimensional image.

I hope you liked my quick and easy card today and that I inspired you to create your own.  If you do, please share your results – I would love to see your take on this card.  I also hope I teased you with my other project – final results will be posted soon.  Thank you so much for spending some of your precious time with me today and I hope you come back soon.  I would appreciate any comments or questions you may have – also a like and share would make me happy.

Til next time, happy crafting …….
