I have been so inspired by “inchies” lately. If you don’t know what they are do a Pinterest search. You can do them in any theme and color – whatever inspires you. I love Christmas, winter and snowflakes so that was my direction for this project.
***Please note that I did use a number of discontinued items and I apologize if you can’t find them (Stampin Up products are always available on EBay so I would suggest you start there). Even though I sell Stampin Up products, the purpose of this post is for inspiration and sharing (but I’ll be honest, a few sales as a result would be a great bonus). This is the perfect project for mixing and matching and using what you have on hand so don’t think you have to spend money and get all the “hot items” of the moment. Go back through your old stuff that you haven’t used in a while and remember why you bought them in the first place – you like Them — so use them and have fun.
I wanted to use the Large Letters Framelits so I didn’t do actual inch sized squares. I made squares & rectangles based on the size of the letters and images I wanted to use. I measured a box slightly larger than my images, then added 1/8” to each measurement for each mat layer giving 1/16” borders.
I used Silver Glimmer Paper as my background, then stamped my images on Whisper White Cardstock with mint macaron ink. I’m sorry but that color is no longer available – Pool Party would be a great option. The dark blue matting layers are Dapper Denim.
To make the letter squares, I started by stamping my snowflakes in mint macaron. The large flake is from Flurry of Wishes and the small one is from Every Occasion which is discontinued- but use any smaller snowflake you have on hand. Then I die cut the letters, backed the square with Dapper Denim and put the letters back in with Stampin Dimensionals cut to fit.
The snowmen are from Snow Much Fun which unfortunately is a discontinued set. You might be able to find it on EBay. The words are from A Tim Holtz set of holiday words dies – I don’t know if it is still available. I did a little bit of coloring with the matching Mint macaron marker. Again, this color is no longer available but there is a Matching marker for all of the current colors – you can get the whole set here 110 Dual Tip Markers. I used the Pumpkin Pie marker to color the carrot noses.
The coffee cup is from Merry Cafe which is also discontinued but there is a similar new bundle that you can still get – Coffee Cafe Bundle.
The ornament is also discontinued- Embellished Ornaments. It also has matching framelits. You may be able to get them on EBay but feel free to use any ornament stamp you may have on hand.
The stockings are current and you can get the stamps and thinlets here – Christmas Stockings Thinlets and Hang Your Stocking. I also ran the cuff through the Big Shot with a Sizzix embossing folder. I’m sorry I don’t know the name but it is such a small piece – you could use just about any embossing folder you have. Mine was a holly leaf border that fit perfectly.
The die cut snowflakes are from Couture Creations and I purchased them from Create and Craft.
Lastly, I embellished some of the squares with clear glitter glue and Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
I hope you enjoyed my post and that you were inspired to create your own project. I would love to see your creations so post a picture or link in the comments. Please let me know if you have any questions – I would be happy to help. Happy crafting!
